I’m not the biggest Max fan either, but props to him and his team for scrambling and getting the car ready. After that crash I would have never imagined him to finish second. And then with 20 laps left, I thought for sure Bottas would run him down.

All I know is that I hope weather is a factor in every race because if not, Mercedes is just going to obliterate everyone else.  That car is on another level.

Just finished watching the race:

HAM: holy shit that pace, best car + his best track = domination

BOT: was surprised he wasn’t penalized for the jump start but apparently Vettel did the same thing in Japan once before and wasn’t penalized; he needs to bounce back bigtime otherwise HAM will begin to pull away

VER: holy shit that pace, just in a worse car. Great that he kept a Mercedes at bay.

STR: he needs to do this every weekend by qualifying well and racing well. I hope he can keep this up. He may be a pay driver, but I really don’t care if he can produce results.

ALB: not bad, but when Max is extracting the maximum possible, he’s a bit off the pace. I really don’t think he’s bad, but he’s gonna run into the same criticism as Gasly did during his Red Bull stint.

VET: probably the best that Ferrari could have done today. Solid drive from him, but a Ferrari win or podium is really going to depend on weird circumstances like at Austria 1.

RIC/MAG: good strategies to get them into the points. I think Ric had an extremely long stint on the slicks after the first stop. Haas’ decision to start from the pits on slicks was inspired, a nice gamble that paid off when they otherwise would’ve finished outside the points.

SAI: weird to see the Mclarens so far off the pace after two strong weekends. They said Hungary will be the highest downforce track this year, so maybe it’s the particular aero package they used this weekend?

All in all, this is going to be a really long season (despite it being shortened) for non Mercedes fans.
